How to Use the I Ching Hexagram Finder
#

This matrix allows you to quickly identify the number of any of the 64 I Ching hexagrams by crossing its two component trigrams.

  • Look for the Upper Trigram (Trigram Above) in the horizontal columns at the top.
  • Look for the Lower Trigram (Trigram Below) in the vertical rows on the left.
  • The point of intersection will yield the hexagram number according to King Wen’s traditional arrangement (後天八卦 - Hòutiān Bāguà; Later Heaven, or the Manifested World of Senses).

📌 Navigation Note: The links on each hexagram number will direct you to my Spanish translation of Richard Wilhelm’s traditional text. Within each individual article, you will also find the link to the original German source text for academic reference.

💡 Looking for deeper structural analysis? If you are researching the inner dynamics of the system, explore our Advanced I Ching Hexagram Correspondence Table to access internal nuclear hexagrams (Hu Gua) and the precise geometric mapping to the Earlier Heaven sequence (Xian Tian).
